EU needs 3m EV chargers by 2030

The EU is going to need 3 million electric vehicle charging points by 2030 if it’s serious about reaching its climate targets, says a new report by campaign group Transport & Environment (T&E). That’s a sixteen-fold increase on the 185,000 public charging points currently available in the EU. The research estimates it would cost €20 billion to develop this pan-European charging infrastructure, which would have to accommodate 44 million electric vehicles. As part of its Green Deal, the EU aims to become ‘climate neutral’ by 2050.
